Write pastoral letters to those who are under your protection, guidance and care, especially your children, and let them know your plans, advice, lessons, encouragement, hopes and wishes for them. Write the letter, in your own handwriting, with all the love and blessings you hold for them, so that in later years they may have something personal from you expressing your heart for them...

Our theme for September centres on being a pastoral person, from a fatherly or motherly perspective. Each week we will study a pastoral letter from the New Testament and glean key lessons the Apostle Paul taught his ‘sons’ in the faith. It is going to be good. See you at Church @10am.

I promised on Sunday to write a short blurb on why we pray and fast. Why can’t we just pray without fasting.

Fasting, among other things, is symbolic of sacrifice. It is a way to reflect a determination to our prayer requests. It is also a reminder that we are reliant on nothing, or no one, else but God. As such we give up something significant on that day to honour God as our sole source of strength, as well as show a commitment to our prayer requests...
